Our History

Nauset was founded in 2000 with one clear purpose – help every client achieve their personal financial objectives through goal-based money management.

The firm was built on the following principles:

Our Team

  • Michael Lombardo, President

    Michael R. Lombardo is the President and Founder of Nauset Wealth Management, an SEC Registered Investment Advisor. Michael is also a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) practitioner. He is responsible for investment policy and portfolio management as well as financial planning activities.

    Michael has over 20 years experience in the financial services industry as an investment manager, consultant and marketing manager. Prior to forming Nauset, he was Managing Director of VestMark Strategy Group, a financial services strategy firm with clients in the investment management, banking, pension and information services sectors of the industry.

    Prior to and concurrent with his VestMark experience, Michael founded and operated Nauset Partners, providing financial services marketing consulting to companies in private banking, mutual fund management and individual and institutional wealth management among others. Earlier in his career, Michael was Marketing Manager at Fidelity Investments, responsible for mutual fund and discount brokerage marketing.

    Michael received his MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and graduated with a BA in Mathematics and Economics from Brown University.

  • David Bauer, Principal

    David is a Principal of Nauset Wealth Management. He develops holistic wealth management and retirement programs for clients with a particular expertise in meeting the needs of financial services professionals. David is a member of the firm’s investment committee.

    David has been an investment management professional since 1989. His experience spans portfolio management, investment product assessment and development, strategy, 401(k) advice, and compensation structure. David is well known as a founding partner of Casey Quirk, the largest global consultant dedicated to serving investment companies. Prior to Casey Quirk David worked with mid and large retirement plans as an investment consultant at RogersCasey and was a fixed income portfolio manager at Bankers Trust Company. At Greenwich Associates he led the investment management market research team.

    David received an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and a BA in Economics from Tufts University. He has been frequently quoted in major financial publications including the Wall Street Journal and Pensions & Investments and is a board member of the Boston Investment Professionals.

    In addition to helping clients plan and invest for their future David enjoys fly fishing and skiing.

  • Karen Swanson, Vice President Marketing & Technology

    Karen has been involved with Nauset from its inception. Her role is solely focused on creating marketing programs and technology solutions, on an as-needed basis.

    Karen holds an MBA from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business and a BS degree, magna cum laude, from Bucknell University.

  • Melissa Gardner, Operations & Service Manager

    Melissa joined Nauset in 2009 and performs a variety of service, operational and administrative functions.

    Melissa is responsible for maintaining Nauset's various client databases and preparing the investment reports sent out quarterly. Additionally, she handles bookkeeping and other administrative needs for Nauset's Family Office clients. As well, Melissa supports the on-boarding process for new clients, including preparation and submission of documents and applications, as well as portfolio data set-up activities.

    Melissa holds a BA in International Relations from Bucknell University, and has operations experience in confidential environments, including two financial services firms and a boutique recruiting firm.

  • Irene Pepitone, Operations & Planning Specialist

    Irene began working at Nauset in 2017. Her primary responsibilities include client onboarding and client servicing, including financial planning and operations. Irene joined Nauset from the Tradex Group, an alternative asset manager, where she handled the operations and investor relations functions. Irene has extensive experience and relationships within the financial services industry having spent most of her career at RBC Capital Markets as a Director in the Global Syndicated Finance Group, structuring and syndicating corporate loans. Prior to RBCCM, Irene was employed by The Chase Manhattan Bank as a financial analyst.

    Irene received an MBA in Finance and International Business from NYU Stern School of Business and a BS from Fordham University.
